2017 Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay

This wine is true to the Tolpuddle Vineyard Chardonnay style: fine and precise with firm acidity, and a combination of lightness of texture and intensity of flavour. The 2017 vintage was defined by concentration paired with high natural acidity, and reflects a wonderful growing season, and the results of the detailed work done in the vineyard.

97 Points, James Suckling - Top 100 Australian Wines of 2018

What a nose of chalk, crushed stones, slate, vanilla, spices, honeysuckle, sliced apples, quince, dried sage, thyme and a ton of freshly squeezed lemons and limes. The palate’s very edgy with a taut line of acidity, but it fits in so well the stone fruit and flora undertones. Clarity, precision and focus that matches up to any top Grand Cru Burgundy. Not for the faint of heart but the fearless. Drink now or hold.

Huon Hooke - The Real Review - November 2018

An exquisite wine, very refined, tight and delicate yet intensely flavoured, with great acidity part of its racy palate. It invites comparison with fine Chablis, not least because of the flinty, chalky-mineral aroma, which is quite unlike most Aussie chardonnay. 96 Points

2019 International Wine Challenge - GOLD, 96 Points

A world class modern Australian Chardonnay. Combining struck match with beautiful peach and citrus fruit. Flint and sea shell minerality and epic length.

Jeremy Oliver - The Best Buys in 2019 Jeremy's Must-Haves - November 2018

Penetrative grapefruit, peach and lemon backed by coriander, ham hock and minerals, finishes savoury with crunchy acids. 95 Points

Gary Walsh - The Wine Front - November 2018

Lime, ruby red grapefruit, almond, some green herb character. Light but delivering plenty of juicy flavour and flinty crunch, green olive, fine-boned, good energy and zesty feel. Subtle cheesy savoury elements, lime and rind on a long and chalky finish. Better again with a couple of years on it, as they tend to be. 95 Points

James Halliday - Top 100 Wines 2018 - November 2018

This is one of Australia's most exciting vineyards. Many Tasmanian chardonnay producers struggle in managing acidity, Tolpuddle simply makes it an essential part of the wine, serving to highlight the nectarine, white peach and grapefruit flavours. Likewise, oak is an incidental part, serving to delicately frame the fruit. 98 Points

Gourmet Traveller Wine - September 2018

With its brilliantly intense, fresh bouquet of lemon, grapefruit and struck flint, it’s an arresting wine with great vivacity. Tight, cool-grown fruit in the citrus spectrum with low-level sulphide complexing notes. The aftertaste is tight, fine and persistent. 95 Points

Huon Hooke - The Real Review - July 2018

Very light yellow colour. Very crisp, fresh, bright bouquet of lemon, grapefruit and struck-flint; an arresting bouquet which is truly more-ish. The palate is again very bright and fresh, crisp and zesty, with great vivacity of flavour, tight cool-climate fruit in the citrus spectrum and low-level sulfide complexities. Long carry; a rivetting wine. 95 Points
